Jack Black is an American actor, comedian, and musician with a net worth of $50 million. He’s the lead vocalist of ‘Tenacious D’ and is known for films like Shallow Hal, Tropic Thunder, and Kung Fu Panda. Thomas Jacob Black was born on August 28, 1969, in Santa Monica, California. His parents Thomas Sr. and Judith are satellite engineers. He has two siblings, Rachel and Howard. Black attended Poseidon School followed by Crossroads High School. He also studied at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he was a member of Tim Robbin’s Actors Gang.

CAREER
Black made his acting debut in the 1992 satirical mockumentary film, Bob Roberts. He held supporting roles in the first two seasons of the sketch comedy series, Mr. Show with Bob and David. Other early film appearances include Dead Man Walking (1995), The Jackal (1997), and Cradle Will Rock (1999). Black starred as “Barry Judd” opposite John Cusack in High Fidelity (2000). The film was an adaptation of Nick Hornby’s novel of the same name.

Black held prominent roles in films like Shallow Hal (2001) with Gwyneth Paltrow, Nacho Libre (2006), and Goosebumps (2015). He received a Golden Globe Award nomination for his performance in the 2003 comedy film, School of Rock. As a voice actor, Black is best known as the voice of “Po Ping” in the Kung Fu Panda film franchise. Three films have been released with a worldwide gross of $1.8 billion.

In 1994, Black and musician Kyle Glass (lead guitarist) formed the comedy rock duo, Tenacious D. Their self-titled debut album was released in September 2001. It was certified platinum in the U.S. and featured the singles “Tribute”, and “Wonderboy”. Their second album ‘The Pick of Destiny’ was released in 2006, and their third ‘Rize of the Fenix’ was released in 2012. The single “The Metal” from their second album was used in the video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Tenacious D won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance for the song “The Last in Line”. The band also had their own television series which ran on HBO from 1997 to 2000.
